The electric segment is growing at a steady speed in India. We have foreign manufacturers like Hyundai, Kia and MG bring their EVs to India. However, Indian brands are also showing their capabilities. Mahindra recently showcased its INGLO platform that will underpin all its future electric cars. The INGLO platform comes with a lot of futuristic elements. Even Tata showcased the Avinya concept earlier this year. So, how does the INGLO platform stack against the Tata Avinya concept’s platform? In today’s article, let’s compare Tata vs Mahindra electric platforms.

Avinya Platform

The Tata Avinya is based on the brand’s Pure EV Gen 3 architecture for ground-up EVs. It allows the manufacturer to push the wheels to the far corners and maximise the cabin space. The Avinya concept will be the basis for building cars, similar in size to the Harrier. Other than this, the Architecture will offer next-generation connectivity, an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), and enhanced performance & efficiency. The platform has improved levels of waterproofing and dust protection. What about the battery? The battery used in Avinya will support ultra-fast charging, with the ability to add 500km range in less than 30 minutes.

INGLO platform

Now let’s talk about Mahindra’s INGLO platform. This platform will underpin all the upcoming electric cars from the brand. This platform will use components from Volkswagen’s MEB. The platform will allow Mahindra to create electric SUVs that fit its customers’ demands. Mahindra is also paying particular attention to ground clearance. What about battery technology? Mahindra is using two different cell architectures – Blade and Prismatic. With battery capacities ranging from 60-80kWh, to be offered with a 175kWh fast charge and charging 80% in 30 minutes. Mahindra is said to be focusing on performance with a claimed 0-100kmph in under 6 seconds. Like the Avinya concept, the INGLO gets ADAS compatibility with 5-radars. It will also get 5G connectivity and built-in intelligence.

Tata vs Mahindra electric platforms – what the future holds?

Both the platforms are future-proof. It is quite heartwarming to see the progress of Indian brands in this aspect. Both the platforms are quite futuristic with a special focus on human intelligence. The true capabilities can only be known once we see the production cars on these respective platforms, however, since both the Indian brands are paying huge attention towards performance, safety & technology, these EVs will definitely give tough competition to the upcoming global electric rivals. Moreover, the planned range figures are expected to cool off the range anxiety that many EV buyers suffer from today.
