Ola Electric has been running behind bringing a big revolution in the country. The brand and its CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal have been focusing on ending the ICE age ever since they launched the S1 Pro last year. The S1 Pro was even our ‘Scooter of the Year’ for 2022. Since the launch last year, Ola has brought in the Move OS 2 update to the scooter that brings in few promised elements. However, today, Ola Electric is aiming even farther. Today’s Ola Electric event showcased the brand’s big plans for India and its upcoming, very important EV. In this article, we take a look at all of them.

The first announcement made today was regarding the toned-down variant of the Ola S1 Pro, called the Ola S1. Although the scooter was showcased last year as well, but was not available for sale until today. Talking about the S1, it gets an ARAI-claimed range of 141km with a true range of 128km in ECO mode. In NORMAL mode, this scooter will offer a 101km range with the SPORT mode offering 90km of range. The scooter will be available with almost everything that the S1 Pro has to offer, including MoveOS 3. This means features like music, navigation, reverse mode, etc. will be on offer. The top speed of S1 has been reserved at 95kmph and it gets a 3KWh battery pack.

As far as pricing is concerned, the introductory price has been set at Rs 99,999/-. The scooter can be reserved at 499/- and the deliveries will start from 7th September. Extended warranty unto 5 years can also be opted for, for an additional amount. Also, the brand’s Hypercharger network launches this Diwali, starting from 50 major cities.

Ola Cell will be the brand’s next ambitious plan. According to Bhavish, India does not produce any cells as of today. However, this is set to change with the brand aiming to become the global leader within the next decade. For that, Ola has setup its Battery Innovation Centre. All R&D will take place here with the production taking place in Gigafactory. These cells will also be used in the battery modules that will power the brand’s products by next year.

Ola’s most ambitious plan for India is their electric car. Bhavish Aggarwal has made some important claims with this product. According to him, it will be one of the fastest cars in India which will be able to achieve 0-100kmph in under 4 seconds. Range figures are set to cross the 500km mark. Moreover, it will be the sportiest car ever built in India with an all-glass roof and a drag coefficient of less than 0.21.

In terms of features, it will come powered by the brand’s MoveOS UI. Also, assisted driving capability (ADAS) will be on offer. It will be keyless & handleless according to Bhavish Aggarwal. This Ola EV is set to arrive in 2024. Are you excited for it? Do let us know in the comments.

Ola S1 Pro will also be receiving the MoveOS 3 updates starting this Diwali, which will enable features like moods, digital key sharing, proximity unlock, improved regeneration, hyper charging, etc.

Also, Ola has released a limited edition (1947 units) Khaki colour for the S1 Pro.
