Upcoming Hyundai vehicles – Creta facelift
The Creta is Hyundai’s star performer in the Indian market regularly raking in good sales figures for the brand. Of late, the Creta has been facing stiff competition from cars like the Mahindra XUV700, MG Astor, etc. To counter this threat, Hyundai is touted to launch the Creta facelift in India. Hyundai has already launched the facelift in Indonesia and it is only a matter of time before we see it in India. What does the facelifted model get? It gets a Tucson-inspired parametric front grille. The second major change is the addition of the ADAS system. It gets ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, lane following assist, forward collision avoidance, etc. Could Hyundai bring this to India? It should, considering that ADAS is quickly becoming a norm in India. The Creta facelift is expected to be launched sometime next year.
New-generation Hyundai Verna
The sedan segment has seen a lot of activity in the last few months. We have seen the Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus and the Honda City Hybrid launch in the country. Even with dwindling sales, brands are not ready to abandon the sedan segment. Hyundai is also working on bringing the new generation of the Verna. The car has been spotted testing in South Korea as well as in India. What all could it get? According to spy shots, it is expected to be bigger than the current model. Also, it will mostly get a new exterior design as well as new features. When will Hyundai launch it? It is expected to be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023. One interesting thing to note is that Hyundai is expected to offer it with a mild-hybrid setup as well to offer improved fuel-efficiency.

The success of Tata Punch has attracted other manufacturers’ attention to the micro-SUV segment. Hyundai is also working on a Tata Punch competitor codenamed the Ai3. The Ai3 is still in its early stages of development, so it is hard to predict much about its specifications. One thing we can be sure about is that it will be a feature-loaded car. The Ai3 is expected to be launched by 2024. As far as speculations are concerned, this SUV is touted to come based on the Grand i10 Nios’ platform. It is also said to share its powertrain from the hatchback.
Venue N Line
Hyundai recently gave the Venue a major update. In this update, Hyundai has given this compact SUV some new design elements as well as some new features. According to reports, the facelifted Venue is almost certain to get an N Line variant in the upcoming months. Earlier this year, the Venue N Line was also spotted testing in South Korea. What will it get? It will get red highlights, new alloy wheels, a new grille and N Line badging on the exterior. The Venue N Line will come with the same 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine as some regular variants, but Hyundai might retune the suspension and steering for better handling. According to leaked documents, the Venue N Line is expected to come in two variants: N6 & N8. The Hyundai Venue N Line will directly compete with the Kia Sonet GT Line variants.
Affordable EV
Hyundai is also looking to expand its EV lineup in India. It has plans to launch six EVs by the end of 2028. One of these EVs will be an affordable one based on the Venue platform. According to recent reports, Hyundai could use Venue’s architecture for this EV. So why not a ground-up EV? Hyundai wants to price this EV competitively. Another car that Hyundai is bringing this year is the IONIQ 5. The IONIQ 5 is Hyundai’s most advanced EV in the market as of today. It is a sister product to the Kia EV6. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 50 lakh to Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). With this pricing, the IONIQ 5 will cater to a very niche segment.
