Last year, Hero launched the Xpulse 200 4V, improving a lot of aspects of the older bike. As a product, Xpulse has no direct rival in India. What’s so special about the Xpulse? The Xpulse can do off-roading and also serve as a regular commuter. Honda, however can crumple this monopoly. How? The Japanese two-wheeler pioneer has one particular bike in its global portfolio that can directly rival the Hero Xpulse. In today’s article, we will talk about this Honda Xpulse rival.

What is it?

As mentioned above, Honda already has a bike similar to the Xpulse in its global portfolio. The bike we are talking about is the CRF190L. Is there any chance of Honda bringing it to India? Earlier this year, Honda filed the patent for the CRF190L in India. Currently, Honda only sells it in the Chinese market. With a patent already filed, there is definitely a chance that the brand is evaluating it for the country. Also, the affordable off-roading two-wheeler has been attracting customers, the credit for which can given to the Hero Xpulse and its previous-gen Impulse.

What does Honda CRF190L get?

Now we know about the CRF190L, let’s talk more about its design and specifications. The CRF 190L carries forward Honda DNA from the Africa Twin and Transalp adventure bikes. At the front, we have a vertical, single-unit headlamp with a small windshield. Other than that, we have upright handlebars and an integrated pillion grab rail. It gets a single-piece seat, with the footpegs being mid-set. What about suspension? The bike gets a tubular steel cradle and telescopic suspension.

Talking about the powertrain, it is expected to borrow it from the Hornet 2.0 and CB200X. This means that a 184cc, air-cooled, single cylinder engine could power this entry-level ADV which is capable of producing 17bhp & 16.1Nm of torque. The gearbox is expected to be the same 5-speed manual unit.

Honda Xpulse rival – Conclusion

As mentioned above, the Xpulse 200 has no competition in its segment. If Honda can bring the CRF190L to India, it could spice up competition in this segment. As far as pricing is concerned, Honda might not look to undercut the Xpulse, however, it would mostly look to outperform the Xpulse in terms of refinement & reliability.
