However, Tata wants to further bank on the success of the Punch. For this, the brand is expected to be working on two special versions of this micro SUV. There have been test mules of camouflaged Tata Punch in the past, which according to many media outlets is the CNG variant in testing.

If this is true, offering this SUV with CNG could drive even more sales as there is no rival in its segment that is offering CNG. Tata sold around 11,000 units of the Punch in July. The brand can definitely grab even more if the CNG option is on offer. The difference between regular and CNG variants is expected to fall between Rs 80,000 to Rs 95,000.

Tata has built the Punch on its ALFA-ARC platform. Keeping in mind the requirements of the future, this platform is compatible with electric integration as well. Therefore, there have been speculations about the Tata Punch EV being in the works as well. Tata has been leading the EV transition happening in the country. The Tata Nexon EV is the highest-selling EV due to its familiarity as a nameplate and value-for-money quotient. Moreover, with the addition of the Tigor EV, Tata has a diversified portfolio to offer in the EV segment. Adding furthermore to the lineup, the Punch EV could be an even more affordable option for buyers who are looking for an electric SUV. 

With Tata’s Ziptron EV technology, the Punch EV could come with a 26kWh battery pack with real-world range figures expected to fall around 200km to 220km. Differentiating the car from the ICE model, it may get the Signature Teal Blue colour along with blue accents on the interior as well as the exterior.
