Kia had a good entry into the Indian market. It quickly rose to the fourth spot in the top-selling manufacturer’s list. As a brand, it continues to do well, but it is facing stiff competition from Mahindra. Both the brands are fighting for the fourth spot, with Mahindra having the upper hand in recent months. Kia wants to take back this from Mahindra with a sleeve of upcoming products. In today’s article, let’s talk about Kia plan that will help it rival Mahindra.

Carens CNG

Kia played a big gamble by pitting the Carens against the Ertiga and XL6. Thankfully, the Carens has done well due to its premium interiors and features. However, Kia is now looking to make the Carens a more value for money option by adding CNG to it. The Carens CNG was also spotted in testing. A CNG on a turbo-engine is quite unique and could attract a lot of buyers. What about the launch? There is no official confirmation, but the Carens CNG could be launched in the coming months.

Kia Mahindra rival – Seltos facelift

The Seltos is one car that grabbed everyone’s attention with its features and bold design. It still doesn’t look outdated, but Kia nevertheless has unveiled its facelift in South Korea. Will this facelift come to India? Yes. Last month, the Kia Seltos facelift was spotted testing for the first time in India. What does the facelift get? It gets some subtle design changes. In the interiors, we have a new layout and new leather upholstery on the dashboard. Kia could also add ADAS on the Seltos facelift to take on the competition.

Sonet CNG

The Sonet created quite a craze in the compact-SUV segment with its design, interiors and features. The Sonet has stabilised at around 6000 to 7000 monthly sales figures mark, but Kia wants to increase its sales further. So what is Kia planning? Earlier this year, a Sonet with CNG kit was spotted testing. Like the Carens, the Sonet CNG was spotted with its turbo variant. But why a CNG? Currently, no cars in the compact SUV segment offer CNG. So if Kia can bring the Sonet swiftly, it could tap into this demand for CNG cars.

Kia Mahindra rival – Affordable EV

Kia has confirmed that it is working on an affordable electric option for the Indian market. Reportedly, Hyundai is also working on the same. According to reports, Hyundai is looking to build an EV based on the Venue. We have written a story today itself. You can check it out. Can Kia do the same with the Sonet? It certainly can, considering that the Venue and Sonet are based on the same platform. The product is still in its initial stages of development, so we can’t comment more on this product. Kia could debut this product by the end of 2024 or 2025.
