Honda’s recent announcement regarding the future of its Jazz, WR-V and 4th-gen City was nothing shocking. The cars were hit with low monthly sales figures and such a decision was already expected. However, Honda has decided to move on for better. Although the Japanese carmaker is late for the party, it has still decided to expand its lineup with two new SUVs. Honda has already confirmed the plans of bringing a compact SUV. The other in the pipeline is said to be a C-segment SUV, which will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kushaq, etc. So, today, we will be discussing everything that this Honda Creta rival will get that will help it dominate the segment. Honda Creta rival – Specifications

The Honda Creta rival is said to come based on the City platform. This will help the brand save some costs. Length-wise, it is expected to measure around 4.3m long. This will definitely help this SUV compete with the existing C-SUV segment rivals in terms of size. We expect it to come with 16-inch & 17-inch wheels which is usually the standard in this segment. In terms of engine options, we expect both petrol & diesel units to be made available. The units are expected to be borrowed from the City itself. However, Honda will have to re-tune both the engines which could give this SUV an edge over the rivals. Honda’s trusted CVT gearbox is also expected to be on offer here along with the regular manual units.

What could the design be like?

Honda is expected to take inspiration for this SUV from the RS SUV concept which it showcased last year. Typical Honda elements are expected to be present here; a muscular front grille, significant creases & curves and prominent usage of chrome across the exterior. Moreover, we expect the SUV to get the LED treatment all around which will definitely enhance its appeal. On the interior front, we expect high quality materials similar to the Honda City. Could ADAS be a part of the package? Mostly yes, because many cars are set to get this feature and Honda would not want to be left behind, again.

Launch timeline

Honda is prioritising the compact SUV first which is said to see a launch in 2023. The Creta rival is expected to follow sometime later in 2024. By then, we would mostly get to see the Hyundai Creta & Kia Seltos facelifts as well. This will also help Honda take some notes to analyse what the rivals have on offer and present a better case to the buyers.
