Will Mahindra ever update this car?
Mahindra has been paying a lot of attention on revamping its lineup in the country. Mahindra has brought in some new products and has also updated some important ones. The Thar, Bolero Neo, XUV700 and Scorpio-N fall in one of these categories. However, there are some products that have not received any update for very long. One of them is the Marazzo. The MPV from Mahindra has been a slow-seller and the brand has not brought in an update for this product which is actually good at its fundamentals. So, today we discuss the strong points for the Marazzo and whether a proper update for this MPV will be brought in?
What makes the Mahindra Marazzo good?
Mahindra Marazzo scores points when it comes to comfort and space. It is available with 7-seater and 8-seater options and offers ample legroom and knee-room in the second-row. Moreover, the third-row offers comfortable shoulder-room, something that most other 7-seaters in the country fail to offer. Moreover, being a ladder-on-frame, it is more robust when taking on poor roads. Also, it gets diffused air conditioning in the second-row, unlike regular AC vents in other MPVs. Moreover, it gets an aggressive design which gives it a commanding road presence. With a small turning radius and being a FWD, it is easy to manoeuvre in the city.
Mahindra claims it to be the safest MPV in the country with 4-star crash test rating. Also, it gets all-wheel disc brakes which add to the safety aspect. This MPV comes powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine which makes 121bhp & 300Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
What should Mahindra update?
The competition in the space has been growing. People actually want cars that offer all-round value-for-money. Now, the Mahindra MPV already comes with many features but can see a few updates here and there to enhance its VFM quotient. A new touchscreen infotainment system, a fully-digital instrument cluster, premium sound system, improved connected car technology, ambient lighting, an electric sunroof can definitely attract tech-savvy buyers. Increasing the airbag count to 6 would definitely be a reassurance to the modern buyer who is looking for a safe family car.
There were rumours around that the Marazzo could get an AMT gearbox, however no fruitful conclusion was achieved. We still expect Mahindra to offer an AMT unit since it would definitely be a point of attraction for city commuters as well as those who prefer hassle-free driving experience. Mahindra can also re-tune the engine since it has been offering powerful units on its recent products.
Will Mahindra update it?
Mahindra has been focusing on SUVs for many years now. The Marazzo, as mentioned above, has been a slow seller for the brand. With Mahindra’s focus now on its electric SUVs next, it is highly unlikely that the brand would get time to focus on this MPV. Also, Mahindra revealed its 9 product plan in 2021 and a Marazzo update was definitely missing from the list. So, we do not expect the Marazzo to receive any major updates. However, the possibility of Mahindra offering an AMT gearbox can still be deemed open.
