The Kia Seltos is one car that has defied all odds to become a competent product in the segment. Being a new brand, Kia played a huge gamble by pitting the Seltos against the mighty Creta. Thankfully for Kia, this gamble worked, and the Seltos not only took on the Creta; but also gave this new Korean brand a strong foundation in India. This is why the Seltos is so important for Kia, and the brand constantly keeps on updating the car to keep it fresh. Now, Kia is giving the Seltos a major update to take on the competition. It has already revealed the facelift in South Korea and it is coming to India. But when? In today’s article, let’s talk about the launch timeline of the Kia Seltos facelift.
Diving straight into the details, Kia has already revealed the facelift in South Korea. More details will be revealed when Kia unveils the car at the Busan Motor Show 2022, which has already commenced. When can we expect it in India? There is no official confirmation from Kia, but the car has already been spotted testing in India. Kia could unveil it at the Auto Expo 2023 with a launch post-Auto Expo. What about the pricing? Currently, the Seltos starts from Rs 12.06 lakh and goes to Rs 22.08 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). A price hike of Rs 80,000 to Rs 1 lakh can be expected, depending upon the variants.
Kia has only revealed the exterior and interior images of the Seltos facelift. The Seltos facelift gets a new headlamp design with an updated DRL setup. The Seltos already had a sharp design, and the new changes have made it even sharper. What else has been changed? We see new bumpers and more prominent faux skid plates, giving it that rugged look. At the rear, we have new, inverted L-tail lamps with a connecting strip in the middle. The side profile is similar to the current model barring the new alloy wheel design. Like the exterior, the interiors also get a lot of changes. What are these changes? The Seltos facelift now gets a single-piece curved display integrating the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Kia has also changed the dashboard, adding more soft-touch elements to increase the premiumness. Also, we see a new centre console with a rotary knob for the gear lever. What about the features? The full feature list will be revealed at the Busan Auto show, but there are rumours that it could get ADAS functionality.
As far as powertrains are concerned, we don’t expect to see any major changes done. It will mostly continue with the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine and the 1.5-litre diesel engine. Kia could re-tune these engines to produce more power. Seltos already comes with a variety of transmission options and all of this will mostly be retained on the newer model.
