Of late, Maruti has been actively launching new cars and hogging all the headlines. Last month, it launched the much-anticipated new Brezza with an updated design and modern features. Now Maruti has turned its focus to another big unveil. So what is this new unveil? You may have guessed it right; it is Maruti’s new mid-size SUV. Maruti today has revealed its name and other details. But this is not the only Maruti news we are covering here. The second news is about another highly anticipated car, the Jimny 5-door. In today’s article, we will be covering two important launches from Maruti that you should definitely wait for.

Maruti’s mid-size SUV

Maruti updates

As mentioned above, Maruti has turned its focus on creating the hype for its mid-size SUV. Today, Maruti dropped the first teaser video of this SUV, revealing the ‘Grand Vitara’ nameplate. The Grand Vitara is an important product in Suzuki’s global portfolio. The teaser also slightly revealed the rear fascia of the car. What does it show? It shows taillamps running till the Suzuki logo in the middle. These are different from what we saw on the Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder. What else do you think Maruti could do to differentiate this SUV from the Toyota HyRyder? Maruti has also started pre-booking for the Grand Vitara for Rs 11,000. We have written a detailed article on the Maruti Grand Vitara which you can read by clicking on the link below.

Maruti updates – Jimny engine update

Maruti updates

Today, we have an important update regarding the Jimny 5-door. What is this update? According to reports from Indonesia, Suzuki is launching a long-wheelbase version of the Jimny there. This long-wheelbase version is not the 5-door version we are expecting in India. It is rather a long-wheelbase version of the 3-door model. This same report states that the long-wheelbase Jimny will get the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine instead of the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine. Why does this matter? Considering the long-wheelbase version is getting the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, the 5-door Jimny could also get this same engine option. The 1.5-litre engine producing 101bhp will not be sufficient for a big car like the 5-door Jimny. The 1.4-litre turbo unit produces 138bhp, which is expected to be ideal for the Jimny 5-door. Maruti is already testing this engine in India with the Swift Sport. Should Jimny 5-door launch with this turbo-petrol engine in India? What do you think? Do let us know in the comments.

As far as launch of this lifestyle SUV is concerned, it is expected to happen somewhere around or during the Auto Expo 2023.
