Jimny 5-door testing

The Maruti Jimny 5-door has been spotted testing in Europe. The car has is heavily covered in camouflage but we can still spot some details. In terms of design, the 5-door seems very similar to the 3-door version. This version continues to get round headlamps and bumper-integrated tail lamps. We can also see similar ORVMs on this one. When looked closely at, no camera module can be spotted on the ORVMs, hinting at the absence of a 360-degree camera.

What else do we know so far?

Jimny 5-door testing

The Jimny will come in as a strong rival to the existing lifestyle SUVs, especially the Mahindra Thar. Maruti opted for the 5-door version for India since most buyers in the country, especially buyers of Maruti Suzuki prefer value-for-money quotient over any other thing. Now, Maruti is expected to power this car with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. This engine powers the likes of Ertiga, XL6 and Brezza.

This SUV is expected to come with a 4X4 setup as well. Would Maruti re-tune the engine to assist its off-roading capabilities? Only time will tell. Moreover, we could see a strong hybrid setup with it to balance purpose with fuel-efficiency. An exterior-mounted spare tyre setup will continue and it is confirmed from these spy shots as well.
