First of all, both the brands have confirmed that the production of this SUV (which will be shared between both the brands albeit with their unique bits) will start at Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s manufacturing plant in Bidadi, Karnataka starting August. One thing to note here is that this will be the first product from Suzuki that will be manufactured at Toyota’s plant. As mentioned above, this will be a global product and will be exported to other countries as well, including Africa.

It has also been confirmed that the SUVs will come powered by a strong hybrid setup along with a mild hybrid setup. The thing to note here is that the strong hybrid setup has been developed by Toyota whereas the mild hybrid setup will be coming from Maruti.

We also get to see a chrome belt line on the front grille, integrating with the main headlamp unit. Below the front grille, we get to see a radiator grille with hexagonal pattern. Hybrid badging is also present on the sides. As speculated earlier, the ‘Hy’ in ‘Hyryder’ signifies the presence of hybrid system. 360-degree camera will also be on offer as we get to see a camera module under the ORVM. A chrome strip also runs through the rear, that integrates with the tail lamps. This creates a uniformity amongst the overall design bits.

What do we know so far?

According to earlier reports, the hybrid setups (mild and strong) are expected to come paired to Maruti’s 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine. This is the same engine that powers the new Ertiga, XL6 and is also set to power the upcoming new Brezza. As far as other details are confirmed, we already know that these cars will come loaded with features. With Maruti’s push towards technology, we will get to see some modern features in both these SUVs. Some of them could be a big touchscreen infotainment system, electric sunroof, HUD, connected car technology, TPMS, etc. We also expect to see both these SUVs come loaded with important safety features. Could these SUVs come with six airbags? Only time will tell, however, we wish these SUVs come with six airbags since the rule is set to come in effect from October this year.

Pricing

As far as pricing is concerned, we expect it to enter the market with a price tag of around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom) to take on the rivals. As mentioned above, the SUVs’ main highlight would be the availability of hybrid engines which will help them to offer maximum fuel-efficiency in the segment.
