This new bike will be positioned below the Discover and will have a 150cc engine.

The company earlier had a model called Bajaj Kawasaki 4s Champion, while they were in collaboration with Kawasaki and it had a 4-stroke engine developed by Kawasaki. Bajaj now wants to try and cash-in on this popular brand. The ‘Champion’ name is already being used internally by Bajaj, for this product.

The bike will get the same 150cc engine from the Discover, however it will be tuned to offer higher fuel efficiency. Later, there will also be a 125cc version of this bike that will be launched. The Champion 150 will be launched in March this year and will be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016.

As per Bajaj, this bike will operate in the mature space of the executive motorcycle segment, thus starting a new sub-segment altogether. “As of now, the company is selling around 20,000 bikes a month in this segment. With the launch of this new product, our aim is to achieve at least a volume of 70,000 bikes per month”, Eric Vaz , President (Motorcycle Business), Bajaj Auto had earlier said.
