VW India has started streaming an interesting video asking public to guess the name of their first sub-four metre compact sedan.

In an attempt to create a buzz in the market prior to the Auto Expo reveal, VW India has stated airing its new video in which they ask the public to guess the name of their new car. They are mentioning that this is the first Volkswagen that has been made specifically for India. The said car is scheduled to be launched at the Auto Expo on the 3rd of February and will be the main competition for the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.

Spyshots of the VW sub-four metre sedan reveal a familiar VW face with a long grille directly flanked by large headlamps that appear to be sourced from the VW Polo. The rear-end gets L-shaped taillight clusters similar to that of the VW Polo. The interior appears to be taken straight out from the VW Polo, save for the inclusion of a seven-inch touchscreen system. It gets a dual tone black and beige colour combination, silver trim on the centre console, multifunction three-spoke steering wheel with manual adjust, and an MID.

While one report said that the car would be called the VW Ameo, others say it could be called the VW Bora. The sedan’s engine lineup is likely to be borrowed from the VW Polo, which will include the 1.2-litre three-cylinder MPI petrol and the 1.5-liter four-cylinder TDI diesel, paired to 5-speed manual transmissions. Additionally, VW could also offer its 7-speed DSG on the diesel, or with the more powerful 1.2-litre TSI petrol.
