Tata Altroz EV

Tata’s next EV is expected to be the Altroz EV. Tata has already displayed the Altroz EV at various Auto Expos. So what will be its expected range? The Altroz EV is expected to come with a 26kWh lithium-ion battery giving it a claimed range of 300 to 350km. The Altroz EV could become the first electric hatchback in India, given no other player launches one.

Kia is entering another new segment in India with the EV6. Kia has already confirmed that it will be launching the EV6 on 2nd June 2022. So what’s so special about the EV6? The EV6 is Kia’s premium offering in the electric space. It comes with a futuristic design and lots of modern features. What will be its range figures? The EV6 will come with a 77.4 kWh battery pack with an electric motor producing 325bhp & 605Nm of torque. This battery pack will deliver a WLTP range of 510km. As the EV6 will come through the CBU route, it will be on the expensive side. 

Hyundai Kona facelift

The Hyundai Kona has struggled in the Indian market. To rectify this, Hyundai is expected to bring its facelift to India. So what’s new in the facelift? The Kona facelift comes with a new, improved design. Globally, the facelift also has a 64kWh battery pack. It remains to be seen if Hyundai brings this to India. It is expected to be launched by the end of 2022.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

Like Kia, Hyundai is also bringing its premium electric SUV to India. But unlike the EV6, the Ioniq 5 will come through the CKD route and will be cheaper than the EV6. Hyundai has confirmed that it will be launching the Ioniq 5 in the second half of 2022. The Ioniq 5 will most likely come with a 72.6kWh battery pack giving it a WLTP range of 481km. 

Upcoming electric cars- Mahindra XUV400

The fact that Mahindra is working on an electric version of XUV300 is hidden from none. But why the different naming? According to rumours, Mahindra is looking to differentiate it from the XUV300. The XUV400 is expected to come with a 40kWh battery pack. This should translate into 350 to 400km of the claimed range. Mahindra has already confirmed that it will launch the XUV400 in Q3/Q4 of FY 22-23.
