Hyundai Creta is a car that has set a benchmark in our country. Creta was the first car in every true sense to give the C-SUV segment it’s popularity. Over the years, this SUV has made it very difficult for competitors in the C-SUV segment to bring in good sales. Currently, almost all popular brands have tried taking on the C-SUV segment barring Maruti. This is soon going to change as Maruti has also set its eyes on the segment now. So when will Maruti launch its Creta rival? In today’s article, let’s find out.

Launch timeline

The Maruti Creta rival has been in the news for quite some time now. So when will it hit the market? According to rumours, Maruti could launch the YFG (codename) somewhere around the mid-festive season. The car has been spotted a lot recently, hinting that it could be in the final stages of testing.

Maruti & Toyota’s plan

Reportedly, Toyota is leading the development of this SUV, which will be then supplied to Maruti. So this SUV is expected to carry a strong Toyota identity. It will be based on the Daihatsu DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) platform. Maruti has codenamed this SUV ‘YFG”, while Toyota is calling it ‘D22’.

Maruti Creta rival – What will power it?

It is hard to predict the exact specifications of the YFG. But it is believed to come with Maruti’s 1.5-litre petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. Will this be enough for a Creta size car? Toyota will be providing its hybrid system to pair with this engine. This hybrid system will offer increased power and efficiency. YFG will most likely miss out on a diesel engine option.

Maruti Creta rival- Features & Pricing

Maruti will have to load the YFG with features to take on the established players in this segment. What features will the YFG get? It is most likely to get a big infotainment system, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, premium sound system, LED headlamps, sunroof and leatherette upholstery. Other expected features include ventilated seats, an electronic parking brake, an air purifier, HUD and much more.

Although the exact pricing is hard to predict but one that we can be confident about is that Maruti will try to price its Creta rival very aggressively. We expect this Maruti rival to undercut most of the competition.
