Honda Activa is the most popular two-wheeler in India. It leads the scooter segment over here. But over the years, we have seen the demand for electric scooters grow very well in the market. Looking at this opportunity, most companies are working on their new electric vehicles. Being the market leader, Honda needs to bring an electric vehicle, especially the electric version of their most-popular scooter. Honda could really bank on the popularity of the Activa and draw in high sales from the scooter’s electric variant as well. In this article, we have mentioned all the details about the Honda Activa electric.

Why Activa Electric?

The Activa has set up its name quite well in the Indian market. Currently, Honda doesn’t have any electric vehicles in India. But looking at the demand and competition from new EV manufacturers, Honda needs a strong product in that segment to pick up the pace to make the shift to EVs. We all know the market value of the Honda Activa series. So, it might be easier for Honda to start drawing customers to the Activa electric, thanks to its familiarity.

Motor and Battery

We don’t have any clear idea about the motor Honda would use in the Activa electric. However, the motor and battery pack combination might give this scooter a claimed range of about 200km on a single charge. Also, Honda has teamed up with the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to establish a network of battery swapping stations across the country on their fuel pumps. Looking at this, we expect the Activa electric to come with swappable battery technology.

Honda Activa Electric – Launch and Prices

Honda Activa Electric

The Honda Activa Electric if launched is expected to be priced aggressively to take on the competition. Nothing can be commented on the pricing front since we are expecting a battery-swapping model to be the leader here. However, Honda would want to keep the pricing aggressive to attract more number of prospective buyers. We expect it to be priced somewhere close to Rs 1 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the base variant. Honda could actually be planning to bring in an electric scooter to take on the competition and celebrate a monopoly in this segment as well. As of now, we cannot comment on when and if the Activa electric would see a launch. However, we expect Honda to be quick on their feet.
