Hyundai is one manufacturer that enjoyed great sales momentum in India. How has Hyundai enjoyed so much success? The major contributor to its success has been its focus-shift to its SUV lineup. Hyundai’s strong game is where its products like the Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Venue play. However, the brand did struggle in the mid-size SUV segment. The Hyundai Tucson could not do the magic since it did not create a viable value-for-money proposition for buyers when compared to its rivals. However, Hyundai is looking to overturn the complete scenario by bringing in the new Tucson to India. In today’s article, we will talk about new Hyundai Tucson’s launch timeline and other details regarding its design, specifications, etc.

After months of speculation, Hyundai has finally confirmed that it will be bringing the fourth-generation Tucson to India. So when will Hyundai launch it? For now, Hyundai has just revealed that it will be bringing it in the second half of 2022. From the images, it seems that Hyundai is bringing the long-wheelbase version ((2,756mm) of Tucson. With the long wheelbase, the car is expected to offer better cabin comfort and enhanced boot space as well.

Design

The new Tucson comes with a radical design change. It sports Hyundai’s new ‘Sensual Sportiness’ design language. This design language is filled with sharp creases and angles, giving it a futuristic look. Also, will we have the jewel-shaped grille with similarly shaped LED DRLs. The headlamps are situated on the bumper, much like the Creta.

Hyundai Tucson launch – Expected specifications

So will Hyundai retain the same engine options on the new Tucson? Yes, we expect Hyundai to give it the same engine options. However, it could borrow the 2.0-litre petrol unit from the Alcazar. Borrowing this unit would give the Tucson a 7bhp boost & 1Nm drop over the outgoing car’s petrol unit. The outgoing car’s 2.0-litre petrol engine is capable of producing 150bhp & 192bhp of torque. The other engine will be a 2.0-litre diesel capable of producing 182bhp & 400Nm of torque. We don’t expect this unit to see any significant changes. Both engines will come with a manual and automatic gearbox as well as 2WD & 4WD options.

New technology

Tucson will remain the flagship product of Hyundai until Hyundai launches the Ioniq 5. So will the new Tucson get any flagship features? We expect it to now come with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Other expected features could include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, and a digital instrument cluster.
