The new Scorpio is one of the most hotly anticipated cars of 2022. Recently, Mahindra started the teaser campaign for the Scorpio, calling it the ‘Big Daddy of SUVs’. The latest teaser revealed the exterior of the car. But the major highlight of its teaser campaign has been Mahindra’s claim that the new Scorpio will take on D-segment SUVs. The D-segment even involves a rival like the Compass, which belong to an American brand, Jeep. So who is this Mahindra Scorpio-N rival? In today’s article, let’s find out.

Big dimensions

Mahindra Scorpio-N rival

Yes, this is the obvious one. To compete with the complete D-segment, Scorpio-N has to be big in dimensions. Currently, the D-segment consists of SUVs like the Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, etc. From the earlier spy shots, it has already been made clear that the new Scorpio will come with impressive dimensions which will translate into massive road presence.

Mahindra Scorpio-N rival – Powerful engines

Mahindra will be giving the Scorpio powerful engine options to take on the competition. It is expected to sport Mahindra’s 2.0-litre mStallion petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines. It remains to be seen in what state of the tune Mahindra brings these engines. But we expect the engines to produce segment-rivalling figures.

Off-road capabilities

The Scorpio-N will be based on Mahindra’s new ladder on frame chassis, that will give it great off-road dynamics. How can we say this? Because this same ladder-on-frame chassis underpins the new Thar as well. Also, the new Scorpio will come with a 4×4 system enabling hardcore off-roading. Being a capable off-roader will surely help Scorpio N to take on the Jeep Compass.

Features

So will a rugged car-like Scorpio get a lot of features? It is expected to get features like a big infotainment system with basic AdrenoX, connected car technology, dual-zone climate control, third-row AC vents, an electric sunroof, and tyre pressure monitoring system, etc.

Mahindra Scorpio-N rival – Competitive pricing

Mahindra is expected to price the Scorpio quite aggressively. It has already done this with the XUV700. So what are our price expectations? We expect it to start from Rs 13.5 lakh and go upto Rs 25 lakh (on-road). If Mahindra launches the Scorpio-N with this price, it would definitely undercut the Jeep Compass by a big margin.
