However, by the time Ioniq 5 steps into the market, Kia would have already launched its premium electric SUV, the EV6. Ioniq 5 will thus clash with the EV6.

Design

The Ioniq 5 SUV is built on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Architecture (E-GMP) platform. The Ioniq 5 is inspired by the design of Hyundai’s concept car, the 45 EV. It has got very sharp cuts all over which enhance the looks. Overall, the design of this car is expected to attract buyers of all age groups.

Globally, the Ioniq 5 uses two different battery packs: 58kWh and 72.6kWh. The first battery pack provides a range of up to 385km, while the second one provides a range of up to 481km. It is also available in two drivetrains – RWD (rear-wheel-drive) and AWD (all-wheel-drive). The base trim, RWD gets a motor that makes 168bhp & 350Nm of torque, while the top trim gets AWD and is powered by a motor that makes 301bhp & 605Nm of torque. We can expect similar specs in India as well. Different combinations of battery pack and drivetrain will be on offer to give buyers a variety of options.

Hyundai, as a company, is very well-known for making feature-rich cars. The Ioniq 5 will be their premium and flagship electric vehicle, at least in India. The Ioniq 5 will thus come loaded with tons of features.
