The Alto needs no introduction in our country. It has done well to carry forward the legacy of the Maruti 800. Maruti is set to take it one step forward by updating it for a generation change. The new Alto has been spotted many times, but when is it coming? According to a recent report, we may just have the answer. In today’s article, we will talk about the launch timeline of the new Maruti Alto.

New development

So what is this new development regarding the upcoming Alto? According to the latest reports, the trial production of the Alto is expected to start sometime next month. This will mean the launch could happen in the upcoming months before the festive season. Maruti could be targeting this period to maximise sales.

New Maruti Alto – Design and dimensions

The new-generation Alto will be based on Maruti’s HEARTECT platform. With this, the dimensions of Alto are expected to increase. We have even seen these changes in the spy images. Design-wise, it will get a more curvy design like the new Celerio. What other changes can we expect? It will get other regular changes like a new grille, new headlamps and tail lamp design.

So will the new Alto get an automatic option? We think Maruti will give it an AMT gearbox in the new generation. Maruti will possibly introduce the new 1.0-litre K10C engine on the Alto. So this engine will be paired with Maruti’s Auto Gear Shift (AGS). Maruti could also continue with the 796cc engine that powers the current generation.

New Maruti Alto- features

Features have become so important that even affordable cars are not spared from this craze. We expect Maruti to give it features like idle start-stop, digital instrument cluster, new infotainment system, all-four power windows and rear wipers. In terms of safety, it could get dual airbags, reverse parking sensors, ABS + EBD and a speed alert system.
