Kia’s three row electric SUV coming next?
Electric scooters have been feeling the wrath of customers as of late. But even with these hiccups, electric vehicles continue to go strong. In Q1 of 2022, electric vehicle sales rose to 9,535 units, a big jump from 2,384 units in Q1 of 2021. This growth is with the limited options available in the market. We currently have no option in the electric three-row space. However, Kia could have the answer to this problem with its EV9 concept. In today’s article, we will discuss the Kia EV9 for India.
Concept design
Kia has taken complete creative liberties with the design of the EV9 concept. It is something you can’t miss on the roads. As it is an EV, it comes with a closed grille. Kia has replaced the grille with pixel-like DRL lights. The concept car had side opening doors which we will most likely never see in the production version.
Kia EV9 India- Interior
The Kia EV9 concept like other concept cars comes with an outlandish interior design. Kia has packed the interiors with sustainable materials. At the heart of this, we have a 27-inch screen that houses the infotainment system and the instrument cluster. Kia has tried to make the interiors as airy as possible.
Specifications
Kia has not revealed the exact specifications of the EV9, but as it is based on the underpinnings of EV6, it could use a lot of components from it. So it could get EV6’s 77.4kWh battery giving it a range of around 500kms. The Kia EV9 will come with dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup but don’t expect the electrifying 585bhp of the EV6. It could with a more modest 325bhp power figure.
Kia EV9 India- Launch timeline
The EV9 is still a concept, but Kia has confirmed that it will be launching the production version by 2023 in Europe. Once it achieves decent sales in Europe, we can expect Kia to bring it to India in limited numbers just like the EV6.
