The Duster was quite an iconic nameplate in India. It started the now popular C-SUV segment in our country. But Renault failed to continue this momentum as it didn’t update the Duster strategically. However, Renault has now understood this. Keeping this in mind, the brand had confirmed that it will be bringing the 3rd-generation Renault Duster to India. So when can we expect the new Duster in India? In today’s article, we discuss that.

Renault’s plan

Renault India has already confirmed that it will be not launching the 2nd-generation Duster in India. According to Renault, it will directly be bringing the new 3rd-generation Renault Duster, which will be much more India-specific. Renault has also stopped the production of the 1st-generation Duster due to dwindling sales. As of now, no concrete information has been given by the brand regarding the exact launch plan but the 3rd-gen car will be globally launched sometime in 2023-2024. We can expect the same timeline in India as well.

Platform and other details

The new Duster will be based on Renault’s new CMF-B architecture. It will be beneficial as this platform can also take in MHEV, HEV, PHEV, and BEV powertrains. Renault can bring in a plug-in hybrid setup first and then a fully electric version. Renault might also give it a 4WD option.

The 3rd-generation renders are doing the rounds on the internet. It seems that Renault will base the new Duster on the Dacia Bigster concept. This new Duster will continue the boxy design language. The front grille is shaped like a light with a full DRL line running through it. Other than this, it comes with muscular fenders, LED headlamps, diamond-cut alloy wheels and silvered-out skid plates. At the rear, it will get LED tail lamps and a silvered-out skid plate.
