Tata’s upcoming compact SUV, based on the Nexon concept has been spied testing once again. Tata Motors is getting more and more aggressive and wants 2016 to be a turnaround year for itself. It will begin its slew of launches with Zica hatchback, followed by its sedan version Sway and the Nexon based compact SUV.

The Nexon (codenamed Osprey) is a sub-four metre SUV which is based on the Vista platform. It will come with four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The four-cylinder petrol engine is expected to be based on the new Revo-tron all-aluminium engine family, whereas the diesel engine is expected to be either the 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced unit or the 1.5-litre Revo-torq engine.

The vehicle is almost ready for production and is expected to be launched by mid 2016. This compact SUV will challenge established players like Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and also the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
