Kia India continues to impress people with its feature-loaded cars. The recently launched Kia Carens has become an instant hit amongst customers. Seeing the success of Carens, Kia will be looking to enter more such unique segments. Kia’s next product is expected to be the EV6 which will kickstart the brand’s EV journey in India. We have obtained spy shots of the EV6 testing in India. In today’s article, let’s discuss the spotted Kia EV6 in India 2022.
What was spotted?
A Kia EV was spotted in Hyderabad without any camouflage. The images were posted by ‘automobiliardent’ on their Instagram. The car has a Tamil Naidu testing plate. This spotting increases the speculation that we will be seeing the launch of the EV6 in the upcoming months. The EV6 is expected to come through the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. But later on, we can expect Kia to manufacture the EV6 in India.
Specifications
The EV6 is based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform (Electric-Global Modular Platform). It shares its underpinnings with Hyundai’s Ioniq 5. Globally, the EV6 comes with a wide variety of electric motor and battery configurations. The EV6 comes with two battery options, a 58kWh and a bigger 77.4 kWh. Both the battery options come with rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive options. The rear-wheel-drive variant with the 77.4 kWh battery gets a WLTP range of 510kms.

Unsurprisingly, the Kia EV6 comes loaded with features. 12.3-inch infotainment and instrument cluster, steering-mounted controls, dual-zone climate control, dynamic parking guide, 14-speaker Meridian sound system, and augmented-reality heads-up display are some of the noteworthy features.
As far as pricing is concerned, we expect the EV6 to be priced aggressively. We could see a price tag of close to Rs 50 lakhs (ex-showroom). EV6 if launched would see no direct rival in the country unless Hyundai launches its Ioniq 5 here.
