Volkswagen is making good efforts to grab more sales in the Indian market. They have already stepped in the hottest C-SUV segment with the Taigun. They also unveiled a mid-size sedan, the Virtus a few weeks ago. With these two segments now covered, Volkswagen is expected to take up fight with compact SUVs next. We can expect this to happen since Skoda recently confirmed that they will develop a compact SUV under its ‘Project 2.5’. Since Volkswagen & Skoda are sister companies, we expect the compact SUV ripples to spread to Volkswagen as well. In this article, we have mentioned what we can expect from Volkswagen in this direction.

Design

Volkswagen will keep the overall exterior design uniform to its other new-age SUVs. It might have a similar-looking front grille as we see on the Volkswagen Taigun. Big square headlights, bold bumpers, body claddings, good-looking alloy wheels are expected to be some of the key design highlights. Volkswagen might offer the Infinity LED tail lamp with its compact SUV as well to give it a unique touch in the segment.

Specifications

Currently, Volkswagen has two powerful engines at its disposal – a 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. As it would be a sub-four-metre car, Skoda might give it the 1.0 litre TSI unit that makes 113bhp & 178Nm of torque. This engine could come mated to a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic torque converter gearbox.

Volkswagen Compact SUV – Features

The Volkswagen compact SUV is expected to get all the modern features that we expect in a car from this segment. A 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, connected car technology, sunroof, ventilated seats, and much more are expected to be on offer. Volkswagen could offer a special GT variant as well, similar to the Taigun.

Volkswagen Compact SUV – Pricing

We expect that Volkswagen might launch this car with a starting price of Rs 8 lakhs (ex-showroom). At this price, it would be competing with cars like Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
