Volkswagen planning strong comeback with 3 new cars?

The Volkswagen Group is investing a lot to revive itself in India. Though Skoda is spearheading the project, Volkswagen is closely following its lead. In March, Volkswagen recorded sales of 3,672 units and YoY growth of 81%. The German brand will also be aiming at such a growth by launching 3 new cars (expected) in the upcoming months. In today’s article, we will see three new Volkswagen cars coming next.

Sub-four-metre SUV

The sub-four-metre SUV segment is the fastest-growing lot in India. Most manufacturers have their cars in this segment. Volkswagen is also expected to be preparing a product for this segment under its ‘Project 2.5’ strategy. The new car will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform. This SUV is expected to share its design and features with the Taigun. The car is expected to be in its early stages of development.

Three-row SUV

Volkswagen is also looking to enter the affordable three-row SUV segment. The development of this SUV will be spearheaded by Skoda. Like other newer cars from the VW group, it will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform. The three-row SUV will compete with cars like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, etc. Its exact specifications are still unknown.

New Volkswagen cars – Electric SUV

Volkswagen is expected to start its EV journey in India with its popular ID.4. Volkswagen will bring the ID.4 through the Completely Knocked down (CKD) route. The ID.4 is based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform. It is a sister model to the Skoda Enyaq and the Audi e-Tron. Dimension-wise it is similar to cars like the Tata Harrier. Globally, the ID.4 comes with a number of battery and motor options. So it remains to be seen which options Volkswagen will bring to India.
