Mahindra has taken a completely new direction in regards to its SUV lineup. Its SUVs has always been known for their ruggedness, but now Mahindra is making them more well rounded by adding modern features and technology. We can clearly seen this with the XUV700. Mahindra’s next product, the Scorpio, will also be getting the same treatment. So, what can we expect from the base variant of the new Mahindra Scorpio? In today’s article, we discuss that.

Design

The overall silhouette of the Scorpio base variant will remain the same. It will get the big Mahindra grille with the new logo. The base model will get halogen headlamps instead of LED ones. It will also miss out on DRLs and fog lamps. We can expect black cladding and less use of chrome on the base variant. It will also miss out on alloy wheels and will rather sport steel wheels.

Specifications

Mahindra generally offers the same set of engines on its entire variant lineup. So we can expect the same on the new Scorpio. The Scorpio base variant could come with a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Mahindra might give the engine different tuning compared to the XUV700. We can expect the setup to be similar to that of the Thar. It will most likely get only manual gearbox options in its base variant. The base variant is not expected to get the 4×4 option as well.

New Scorpio base variant – Features

The Scorpio will come loaded with features. We can expect the base variant to also come with a decent amount of features, like the MX variant of the XUV700. The base variant could get an 8.0-inch infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, adjustable headrests for the 2nd row, a four-speaker sound system, adjustable steering wheel and ISOFIX. Features like the sunroof, a bigger infotainment system, eight-speakers and many others are expected to take a miss.
