Kia India has recently introduced the Carens, a seven-seater MPV in the market. With the Carens, Kia has tried to target Maruti’s MPV duo. Maruti Ertiga and XL6 have been strong players in the segment and have enjoyed monopoly for a very long time. With the launch of the feature-loaded Carens, the Maruti duo has seen to sensed threat. To tackle this, Maruti has plans to launch the Ertiga and XL6 facelifts very soon. In this article, we have listed all the changes we might see in the upcoming facelifts of both these cars.

Design

Maruti Ertiga XL6 facelift

The new-generation Ertiga was launched in 2018 whereas its upgraded version, the XL6 was launched in 2019. Now, both the cars are set to get a minor facelift in 2022. Both cars are expected to get a new front grille and new paint schemes for the exterior. No changes in the overall design and the dimensions are expected.

The interior of both the cars are not expected to undergo any major changes. However, slight changes to the dashboard layout might be done. We are expecting new seating & upholstery for the cabin. There are chances of Maruti even offering the new 9.0-inch SmartPlay Pro Plus on both these cars to put up a strong case against the Kia Carens.

Specifications

Maruti Ertiga XL6 facelift

Both the cars will continue to get the same engine. Under the hood, they will continue to get the 1.5-litre K15B Smart Hybrid petrol engines. This engine makes 103bhp & 138Nm of torque. The biggest upgrade on the facelifts would be the six-speed automatic torque converter gearbox that will be replacing the currently-available four-speed units. The Ertiga is available in the CNG option as well. This engine is a fuel-efficient engine that gives an ARAI claimed mileage of 19.01kmpl. The Ertiga CNG gets a claimed mileage of 26.08 km/kg.

The Ertiga facelift and the XL6 facelift are waiting an imminent launch. The new facelifts are expected to be priced at approximately Rs 10,000 to 20,000 more than the current model to still keep the pricing aggressive.
