Bajaj

In India, Bajaj sells three 250cc bikes – Dominar 250, Pulsar N250 and Pulsar F250. The Dominar 250 is a power cruiser that shares its engine with the Duke 250. The Pulsar N250 is a street-fighter bike whereas the F250 is the same bike but with bikini-fairing. The engine used in this bike is made by the manufacturer itself. It gets a 249cc oil-cooled engine with a five-speed gearbox that produces 24bhp & 21.5Nm of torque. All these bikes cost Rs 1.94 lakhs, Rs 1.66 lakhs, and Rs 1.68 lakhs respectively (on-road, Mumbai).   

Yamaha

Yamaha currently sells one 250cc bike in India, the FZ-25. This bike runs on a 249cc air-and-oil cooled petrol engine that makes 20.5bhp & 21Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. You can own this bike at Rs 1.70 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). 

Suzuki

In India, Suzuki has two 250cc bikes – Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250. The Gixxer is a street-fighter bike while the SF is a fully-faired sports bike. Both the bikes are powered by a 249cc oil-cooled petrol engine that makes 26.1bhp & 22.2Nm of torque with a six-speed gearbox. The Gixxer 250 will cost you Rs 2.11 lakhs and the Gixxer SF 250 will cost you Rs 2.23 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). 

KTM

The KTM offers two 250cc bikes here – Duke 250 and 250 Adventure. The Duke 250 is a sporty street-fighter bike while the 250 Adventure is an off-roader, touring category bike. Both the bikes are powered by the same engine, which is a 248.8cc liquid-cooled engine that makes 29.6bhp & 24Nm of torque with a six-speed gearbox. It is the most powerful 250cc road-legal bike sold in India. The same engine is also used in the Dominar 250 but slightly detuned. The Duke 250 will cost you Rs 2.69 lakhs and the 250 Adventure will cost you Rs 2.74 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai).

Husqvarna also has two 250cc bikes in India – the Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250. The Svartpilen 250 is a neo-retro, streetfighter bike and the Vitpilen 250 is the neo-retro, cafe-racer bike. The Vitpilen has the most aggressive and committed riding stance in this segment. The engine used here is also KTM’s 248.8cc liquid-cooled engine that makes 29.6bhp & 24Nm of torque with a six-speed gearbox. Both the bikes cost almost equal and come in at approximately Rs 2.45 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai).

Currently, Benelli has only one 250cc bike – the TRK 251. It has got the body style of an adventure-touring bike. This bike runs on a 249cc liquid-cooled engine that makes 25.5bhp & 21.2Nm of torque with a six-speed gearbox. The TRK 251 is the most costly road-legal bike in the 250cc segment here, which costs Rs 3.14 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai).

Kawasaki has the KX250 in this segment. It is a dirt bike or we can say a motor-cross bike. You cannot ride this bike on the road as it is not a road-legal bike in India. It is powered by a 249cc liquid-cooled engine. It is the most expensive 250cc bike available on sale in India. The Kawasaki KX250 costs Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
