Hyundai i20 to get updates after Baleno launch

Hatchbacks have always been the preferred choice in our country. This is due to their compact dimensions that are a boon in our crowded cities. Another good thing about modern hatchbacks is that even with these compact dimensions, they have an ample amount of space inside. Recently, Maruti launched the new Baleno. The Baleno comes with a host of new features and tech. The new Baleno has garnered praise which seems to have shaken Hyundai. Hyundai has updated the i20 line-up with new variants to take on the Baleno. In today’s article, we will see the Hyundai i20 to get these updates after the Baleno launch in 2022.
New variants

Hyundai has silently added two new trims to the i20 line-up. Earlier, the 1.2-litre engine of the top-spec Asta (O) was only available with a manual gearbox. Now, Hyundai has added an automatic option on the Asta (O) variant. Hyundai has also added the DCT gearbox to the Sportz variant. The new 1.0 DCT Sportz variant starts from Rs 9.76 lakh (ex-showroom), which is 1.05 lakh cheaper than the earlier entry point of i20 DCT.
Hyundai i20 2022 – New features in variants

Hyundai has also added some new features in existing variants. The Asta (O) variant now gets some additional commands in the Blue Link. The Asta variant gets sunroof and cruise control as standard on all configurations. While Hyundai has replaced the 10.25-inch system with an 8.0-inch unit and removed connected car tech from the Asta variant. The Sportz variant gets automatic climate control.
With the addition of these elements, Hyundai will be aiming to make the i20 a lucrative choice for prospective premium hatchback buyers. No brand wants to lose its dominance in the segment.
