There is no competition for Tata Harrier now – WHY?

The Harrier has been a game-changing product for Tata Motors. It laid the foundation for Tata’s entry into the big SUV segment. As a product, the Harrier is known for its bold design, powerful engine and massive road presence. When the Harrier was launched in 2019, it was quite a unique product. Since then, the segment has seen some new launches like the MG Hector, Mahindra XUV700, etc. Other cars it competes with include the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. But in practicality, none of these cars offers proper competition to the Harrier. In today’s article, we will see why there is no competition for Tata Harrier.
Mahindra XUV700 5-seater

Mahindra launched the five-seater variants of the XUV700 to take on the Harrier. But the five-seater version is only offered on the lower & mid-variants. Also, the waiting period of the XUV700 is quite high. So people looking for quick delivery prefer the Harrier over the XUV700.
Tata Harrier competition – MG Hector

The MG Hector is a proper competitor to the Harrier. It is quite a competent product as it comes loaded with features and good engine options. But in this segment people people prefer diesel engine with an automatic gearbox that the Hector currently misses out upon. This is the reason why a lot of buyers skip the Hector for Harrier.
Jeep Compass

Jeep, as a brand, is known for its capable SUVs all over the world. The Jeep Compass sells in decent numbers in India however is quite expensive when compared to the Harrier. The Harrier offers almost all necessary features. The Harrier thus becomes a better value for money prospect due to its lower pricing. So, most people prefer the Tata Harrier over the Jeep Compass.
Tata Harrier competition – Hyundai Tucson

Tucson is Hyundai’s premium offering in India. Though it is quite a competent product, it has gotten outdated. So it is ignored by most buyers. Also, the Tucson comes through the Completely knocked down (CKD) route making it quite more expensive than the Tata Harrier. This high price negates the value for money aspect, which is offered by the Harrier.
