Kia started its Indian chapter on the right note. Its strategy of only focusing on SUVs has paid great dividends for the brand. Products like the Seltos and Sonet have done well. Kia recently launched its latest product, the Carens. With Carens, Kia is looking to attack the MPV segment. So what segment will Kia target next? In today’s article, we will see Kia’s plan after Carens.

Seltos facelift

Kia Carens

The Seltos was Kia’s first car in India. It’s safe to say that it single-handedly made the Kia brand known to people in India. It continues to rake in good sales, fending off competition from newer cars. But the Seltos has not received any major update since its launch in 2019. So we can expect a facelift in 2022. It will get an updated design with some new features. Kia might also add an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) on the Seltos.

New-generation Carnival

Kia Carens

The Carnival caters to people looking for absolute comfort. It is the perfect car for chauffeur-driven people. Globally, Kia launched the fourth generation of the Carnival in 2020. In India, it wanted to gauge the response to such a niche vehicle, so launched the third generation. The Carnival rakes in about 300 to 400 sales per month, good for such a niche product. We expect Kia to bring the new-generation Carnival this year. The new-generation Carnival gets an aggressive design with even more luxurious features.

Plan after Kia Carens – e-Niro

Kia Carens

Globally, the Niro is quite a successful nameplate for Kia. The brand also sells an electric version of the Niro which was launched in 2018. Kia is soon expected to launch the second generation of the Niro EV. We expect Kia to start its electric journey in India with the new Niro. The Niro shares a lot of its mechanical bits with the Hyundai Kona. Kia will bring it through the CKD route. Depending upon the response, Kia might manufacture it in India in the future as well.
