Best-seller SUV from abroad coming to India soon?
Toyota sells a variety of cars in the international market. The RAV4 is one of the SUVs from the long list. Toyota RAV4 enjoys great sales overseas. RAV4 was the best-selling non-truck model in USA for 2021 and secured the fourth spot in the ‘Top-selling cars of USA, 2021’. It is a premium mid-size SUV. Looking at how Indians have adopted the SUVs, the company is expected to be planning a launch here very soon. The RAV4 has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. So, let us see what the upcoming Toyota RAV4 will get after its India launch.
Looks and dimensions
The upcoming Toyota RAV4 is an aggressive and muscular SUV with very sharp looks. In terms of dimensions, the Toyota RAV4 has a length of 4600mm, it is 1855mm in width, and has a height of 1685mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,690mm.
There is also an off-road version of the RAV4 SUV present in the select international markets. It gets all-wheel drive, a sportier suspension, 18-inch wheels, chunkier tires, and some changes in the interiors as well. However, we do not expect the off-road variant in India as it will further increase the pricing.
Interior and features
The interior of the RAV4 is very modern. It gets an 8.0-inch floating infotainment system in the centre. The dashboard looks very premium. Talking about some unique features, it includes TRD Off-Road capability, Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD with rear driveline disconnect, and multi-link rear suspension. In terms of advanced safety features, it gets Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.0 which comes with dynamic cruise control, lane departure alert, lane-keeping assist, and many other features.
However, we are not sure the list of features that will be on offer here. Toyota might look to create a balance between pricing and the value that it will offer to the buyers.
Upcoming Toyota RAV4 – Engine
Toyota is focusing on hybrid powertrains in its cars. As of now, only the hybrid variant of the Toyota RAV4 has been spotted. The hybrid variant comes powered by a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder, Atkinson cycle petrol engine paired with an electric motor to develop a combined 218bhp in the two wheel drive variant. The power figures touch 222bhp in the all-wheel drive variants.
Upcoming Toyota RAV4 – Price and Competition
We expect the RAV4 to launch sometime this year. Once launched, it will rival the Tata Harrier, the MG Hector, the Mahindra XUV700, and the Jeep Compass. This car is expected to priced on the premium side of the segment.
