Hyundai will be unveiling the new-generation Elantra in India, which is likely to be its global debut.

  This will be coming to India as well at the 2016 Auto Expo. With this unveiling, Hyundai is showcasing how important the Indian car market is for them. Codenamed as AD, the new-generation Elantra packs in a new platform, a lot more features and a set of new powertrains as well.

The Elantra’s new platform is lighter, powerful and even more efficient than the current one.

The new platform of the Elantra that will be more flexible and there won’t be a major change in its dimensions.

The new Elantra will be powered by GDi engines (Gasoline direct injection) and the diesel with the 1.6-litre that will be more powerful and even fuel-efficient. The Elantra will pack in more features and Hyundai is aiming to become the segment leader by moving ahead of the Toyota Corolla Altis. In terms of features there will be a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats, electric-adjustment for the front row seats and multiple airbags.

The Elantra is currently available with a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol is likely to be replaced a GDi even for India. The Elantra will be launched in the second half of 2016 and other than that, the Korean automaker will be introducing the Tucson as well. This is also likely to be powered by petrol and diesel engines.
