Mahindra and Mahindra today launched its new small commercial vehicle (SCV), Mahindra Imperio in India. The new Imperio has replaced the ageing Mahindra Genio in the Indian commercial vehicle market. The premium pick-up comes in both single cabin and double cabin options offered in a base variant and a top-of-the line VX variant.

Priced from INR 6.75 lakh to 8.05 lakh (on-road) the Imperio premium pickup truck is the Mahindra’s first product for 2016 and the eight one for the 2015-16 fiscal.

Mechanically it is a facelift of the Mahindra Genio, the Imperio ensures to provide a high end product experience in its segment of small commercial vehicles.

The front fascia has been redesigned with a bolder toothed-grille, sharper headlamp cluster with integrated turning lights in flow with their current design philosophy.

The new Mahindra Imperio comes with a payload capacity of 1240kg along 16-inch wheels. The pick-up also comes with fuelsmart technology that offers two drive modes – power mode and Eco mode. Other features include bucket seats at front, tilt-adjustable power steering and 2-DIN music system.

Mahindra is powering the Imperio with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder mDI CRDe diesel engine that does duty in the current gen Genio.

The engine produces a maximum power output of 75bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque, while it comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Mahindra will offer the Imperio in both BS-III and BS-IV options with respective pricing. The single cabin version of BS-III models are priced between INR 6.75 lakh to Rs.7.00 lakh, while the BS-IV version will be priced between INR 6.90 lakh to INR 7.25 lakh (On-Road, Thane). On the other hand the double cabin version’s BS-III models are priced between INR Rs.7.00 lakh to INR 7.42 lakh and the BS-IV models will be offered at INR 7.15 to 8.05 lakh (all On -Road, Mumbai).
