Volkswagen now has plans to assemble its new Beetle in its Aurangabad plant. This has been a part of the plan as the German automaker is now planning to enhance the reach of The Bug. Volkswagen had recently launched the new-generation of the Beetle and for the time being it is a complete body unit import (CBU). The Aurangabad plant is already assembling the Jetta, which is based on the same platform like the Beetle and hence there shall be a lot of parts sharing.

The Beetle is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI engine that is shared with the Jetta.

This engine produces about 148bhp of power and 250Nm of torque and comes mated to a seven-speed DSG. Once the assembly of the Beetle commences, this will bring down the cost of the Beetle making it a lot more affordable. The Beetle’s pricing should come under INR 22 lakhs (on-road). The Beetle is competing  with the Mini Cooper and the Abarth 595 somewhat.Volkswagen will be launching the new compact sedan this year and it will also be unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo as well.

Volkswagen will be launching the compact sedan, new-generation seven-seater Tiguan and the new-generation Passat in India.
