TVS seems to be going all out in testing their latest creation, the long awaited Apache 200. Powered by an air-cooled, 200cc single-cylinder motor with fuel-injection on board, the Apache 200 has had fans drooling over it for some time now. Test mules have been spotted all over India and in key overseas markets such as Indonesia. Reports there suggested that TVS could be offering variants on their latest motorcycle, and tires would be a key differentiator in the levels of kit on board. IRC, Michelin and Pirelli are the three tire manufacturers whose names have been thrown about as possible contenders. It now appears that TVS might offer their own-brand tires on the Apache 200, here in India.

Speculation is rife that TVS could introduce the Apache 200 for the domestic market with TVS tires as standard. Another key-difference is that TVS has been testing the Apache 200 with both, a split/clip-on handle-bar as well as a single-piece unit. It could very well be that the company would launch two variants of the Apache 200 here, in the domestic market as well. One could feature a single handlebar unit and come shod with TVS tires. The other, would be slightly sportier, featuring a split or clip-on handlebar setup together with stickier, performance oriented, soft-compound tires.

The Apache 200 is based primarily on the Draken X21 concept bike that the manufacturer had showcased at the Auto Expo, back in 2014. The test-mules spotted since then have confirmed that the Apache 200 will come with disc brakes at both ends. The bike will also get a Combi-braking system as well as ABS (Anti-lock brakes). Other distinguished features include integrated DRL’s in the headlamp unit, clip-on handlebars, split seating, mobile charger, full-digital instrumentation, LED tail-lamp unit, an underslung exhaust unit and offset mono-shock based rear suspension.

Sources indicate that TVS could unveil the Apache 200 on 20th January and is expected to come with introductory pricing in the region of INR 1.4 lakhs (on-road).
