We’d been floored with the styling on Jaguar’s XJ 2015 when we’d reviewed it earlier last year. The car was stunning to look at and had a road presence quite unlike the usual German offerings in the luxury segment. The 2016 update that came out a while later really took things up a notch. Sadly though, the XJ has somehow remained in the shadows of the competition from the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes S-Class.

Jaguar is looking to turn the tide with the introduction of the next generation XJ though. Likely to be unveiled officially at the Motor Show in Paris later this year, the all-new XJ is based on the all-aluminium underpinnings like the rest of its Jaguar family. Power under the hood is expected to come from the new-Ingenium engine family which would also include a straight six petrol and diesel engine variants.

Jaguar is expected to pull out all stops in ensuring that its flagship achieves the success it deserves. Given just how well the current car’s lines look, in-spite of being in the market for some time now, Jaguar would be expected to go in for an evolution on those gorgeous lines. The new XJ will be high on practicality, without really compromising on those flowing lines and curvaceous exterior.

Jaguar will most certainly focus more on improving upon the refinement levels of the car and ensuring that it offers the very best of Jaguar’s luxury experience.

Also, unlike the Germans who prefer to iterate on variants while keeping the base model constant, Jaguar would be focusing more on individual models instead.
