Will Haval go after Fortuner, Gloster and Alturas?
After the success of MG Motors, a few Chinese car manufacturers have been keen to expand in India. Great Wall Motors (GWM) is one such manufacturer that is very keen to enter the Indian market with its Haval brand. If it comes to India, it will try to compete in unique segments to establish the brand. One segment that Haval is expected to enter is the full-size SUV segment with its H9 SUV. The full size-SUV segment consists of the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Mahindra Alturas G4. In today’s article, we will see if Haval India will go after the Fortuner Gloster and Alturas G4. Exterior design
Haval had showcased the H9 at the Auto Expo 2020. It gets an old-school SV design with a bulky and boxy design. At the front, it gets a big wide grille, LED headlamps and integrated LED DRLs. The side profile is mostly clean, with some curves on the wheel arches. At the rear, it gets massive LED taillamps with a spare wheel mounted tail.
Interior & features
The Haval H9 comes with premium looking interiors. Haval generally provides customers with interior colour scheme options. It comes loaded with features like an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electronic parking brake, heated wipers, panoramic sunroof and three-zone climate control.
Specifications
Dimensions-wise, the H9 is 4856mm in length, 1926mm in width and 1900mm in height. Globally the H9 comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine capable of producing 218bhp & 324Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It also comes with a four-wheel-drive option.
Will Haval H9 come to India?
As mentioned above, Haval has kind of hit a roadblock in its entry to India. Still considering its contract with General Motors, we can expect Haval vehicles in the future. The H9 could be a good competitor to the Fortuner. Considering Haval, it will surely undercut the Fortuner to attract customers. It will also Haval establish its SUV lineup in India.
