Hyundai, the second most successful auto-maker in India, has been off to a flying start in the first half of this decade. With a slew of successful launches under its belt, the Korean brand appears to be showing no signs of slowing down. In-fact, Hyundai remains very much on track with its plan of launching one new model in a year all the way till the end of the decade. This will be in addition to the usual model refreshes and facelifts that are part & parcel of an auto-manufacturers product life-cycle plans.

The fact that Hyundai means business and isn’t merely being ambitious is bolstered by the knowledge that the firm will invest something to the tune of INR 1000 crores in each new model launch. This is in-line with their target of growing by 1% in terms of market share each year from now on. Thus, Indian buyers will be able to sample some of Hyundai’s best made (and yet to be made) automobiles in the next few years. Things are expected to kick-off with the much awaited facelift to their SantaFe SUV along with the sixth generation of the Elantra sedan by the end of 2016. Meanwhile, the company shall also launch a (yet-unnamed) MPV as well. What’s will be crucial however, will be the rumoured introduction of cars from its Genesis brand – which caters to the luxury spectrum of the market.

Some of the launch highlights from the first half of the decade that came wearing the Hyundai badge included: the Eon compact-hatch, the Grand i10, the third-generation Santa Fe SUV, compact sedan – the Xcent, the premium hatch, i20 and its Active variant. It also launched the Creta, a compact SUV that’s proved to be a huge hit with critics and car buyers alike. All-in-all, with such an illustrious line-up of launches so far, it only heightens the excitement in anticipation of all that’s coming from leading names in the automobile space.
