Five new compact SUVs to enter the market soon

SUVs are trending in India. All types of SUVs are in great demand, irrespective of their shape and size. Compact SUVs are becoming popular because of their compact size and affordable pricing. Many carmakers have already launched their respective products in this segment, while some more are planning to enter this segment with some new products. In this article, we will discuss five brand-new compact SUVs that are expected to come soon in India.

Maruti YTB

Maruti Suzuki is working on a new SUV that will be based on the Baleno. This new SUV is codenamed YTB. This SUV will be based on the Heartect platform. The YTB will get a tall boy design to give it the SUV appeal. Mechanically, this new SUV is expected to be similar to the Baleno.

Jeep Compact SUV

Jeep has only two cars in India – the Compass and the Wrangler. Jeep wants some piece of the action that is going on in the sub-four-metre SUV segment. The brand is thus planning to bring in a compact SUV. This new SUV from Jeep is expected to be named the ‘Junior’. The Jeep Junior will be based on the Citroen C3’s platform and will borrow a lot of features from it. Jeep might also offer its 4Xe off-road technology, giving it better capability than other compact SUVs.

Skoda Compact SUV

Skoda is also taking the sub-four-metre SUV segment very seriously with its India-centric “Project 2.0”. Skoda has already launched the Kushaq in the C-segment to rival the Hyundai Creta and will soon be launching the Slavia as well to take on the sedan segment here. The brand is expected to target the sub-four-metre SUV segment in the coming time. This new SUV from Skoda will be based on the ‘MQB A0 IN’ platform. It will carry some features from the Skoda Kushaq as well.

Volkswagen Compact SUV

Following the footsteps of Skoda, Volkswagen is also expected to work on a compact SUV for India. What these cars will get under the hood will be identical to each other, just like the Kushaq and the Taigun. However, they will get distinct designs and some distinct features.

MG sub-four-metre SUV

MG is another brand that is mainly concentrating on launching SUVs in India. At present, MG has SUVs in all segments except the sub-four-metre SUV segment. MG will definitely bring an SUV to this segment as well. Like all other MG SUVs, this new SUV will come loaded with a lot of segment-first features and technology. The pricing of this SUV is also expected to be competitive to disrupt this segment.
