Hyundai is the second-largest carmaker in India. The brand is known for its popular SUVs, the Creta, and Venue that have made a major impact in their respective segments. Hyundai is now planning to bring a ‘born electric’ SUV to India. The car we are about to discuss in this article is the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

So far the cars that are available as electric vehicles in India are all derived from their ICE counterparts. They have the same chassis and exterior designs as their ICE versions. Hyundai has built the Ioniq 5 all the way from ground zero to be an electric vehicle. The Ioniq 5 is built on Hyundai’s E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform). The car looks extremely futuristic and does not have a conventional blocked-out grilled like other EVs. As this car is a born electric vehicle, there are no transmission tunnels or driveline under the floor. The floor of the car is absolutely flat.

As there is no gearbox, there is ample space between the driver and the co-passenger seat in the front row. The front row armrest is moveable and offers decent storage space. The side profile of the car carries sharp ‘Z’ shaped lines that continue the ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language. The rear end of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 looks inspired by a science fiction movie and is very futuristic with LED tail lights spreading from one end to another.
