Jeep India to offer new technology on the Compass soon?
Jeep has done a commendable job with the Compass. The Compass is known for its muscular looks and features. It is the brand’s only mass-market product in India, though Jeep is working on launching a sleeve of new products. Globally, Jeep has launched a hybrid option on the Compass. Considering the rising fuel prices, a Compass hybrid could be a great option for buyers. In today’s article, we will see Jeep India’s new technology on the Compass.
What is this new technology?
Jeep is expanding its hybrid range in Europe by offering this new e-Hybrid powertrain. This technology is different from the brand’s 4xe technology it has on some of its cars. Currently, Jeep is offering this new system on the Compass and Renegade in the global markets.
Jeep Compass hybrid Specifications
Powering the Compass and Renegade e-Hybrid is a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine capable of producing 127bhp & 240Nm of torque. It comes with a built-in 15kW electric motor adding 55Nm of torque to the engine output. Jeep claims that the new hybrid tech can propel the cars even when the combustion engine is off. It also claims that it will lower fuel consumption by 15%. Another thing to note is that Jeep is offering this new hybrid only on front-wheel-drive versions of both cars.
Jeep Compass hybrid- Special editions
Jeep is launching the e-hybrid tech in Europe with special editions of both cars. This new special edition is called the Upland trim. It features a Matte Azur exterior colour, a two-tone black roof, 17 or 18-inch wheels and metaKrome bronze finishes on the front grille rings.
Could it come to India?
As mentioned above, Jeep the Compass is the best selling product in its segment. But the petrol engine feels a bit underpowered compared to other cars. This hybrid tech will not only give it better performance, but also improve its fuel efficiency. So we hope Jeep India launches this new Compass hybrid in India.
