All-New Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo Revealed

Toyota has unveiled a new sporty variant of the new generation Fortuner in Thailand.

 Toyota had launched the new generation Fortuner last year and is now gearing up to introduce a sportier variant of it called the ‘Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo’.

The TRD Sportivo variant will be available in two colours, White Pearl CS and Attitude Black Mica. It features a two-tone scheme with white as the main theme and has as a black roof. The all-new Fortuner TRD Sportivo gets restyled bumpers, 20-inch TRD black alloy wheels, TRD door sills, chrome TRD muffler and TRD Sportivo badge on the tailgate.

The interiors of the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo features TRD instrument cluster, TRD push start system, two-tone (red-black) seats, T-Connect infotainment system with seven-inch touchscreen display and TRD floor mats. The brochure also suggests that Toyota will be offering special suspension and brakes in the Fortuner TRD Sportivo.

The all-new Toyota Fortuner was earlier spied in Malaysia . The SUV has been launched in Indonesia and Philippines and is expected to come to India in 2017. Toyota is currently busy with the launch of Innova Crysta which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. The new Fortuner will hence be launched only by next year.

All-New Toyota Fortuner Styling and Design:

The new Fortuner has a sleek design that looks aggressive when compared to the current Fortuner and also  has a massive road presence. The design is a lot similar to the currently sold Toyota off-roaders internationally and this one too gets sleek pulled-back headlamps and a new slim front grille as well. There are LEDs too in the headlamps and this somewhat resembles the Toyota Corolla. The side profile somewhat reminds one of the Mahindra XUV500 with that haunch towards the rear portion in its design. The front bumper has a chiseled effect and has a unique fog lamp design. The chrome-plated fog lamp bezels are triangular in shape with the lamps being set in deep. The taillamps compliment the headlamps well. The res is a chrome sill between the taillamp and also a chrome strip running around the C pillar and tailgate.

There is lots of chrome garnishing all over the Fortuner, something that Indians will love.  The twelve-spoke alloy wheels are also an interesting design. There is a brad footboard running on the sides, to allow easy access inside the vehicle.   there is also t powered tailgate present.The older Fortuner did look rugged and new one looks a lot more contemporary. Dimensionally it is 4,795 mm long and has the same wheelbase of 2,750 mm.

All-New Toyota Fortuner Interiors and Features:

On the inside, it now feels a lot more premium than the currently sold Fortuner. The look and feel of the interior is very contemporaty and plush. A new steering wheel comes in  that looks chunky. Toyota will be offering a smart key on the Fortuner, which has keyless entry. T The driver’s seat will have eight-way electric seat adjustment. Then there is the eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with bluetooth, sat nav, and rear parking camera.

The instrument cluster is also all new, with white and blue illumination. The gear selector lever is finished in brushed aluminum effect. A new multifunction three-spoke steering wheel, chilled glovebox, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable door mirrors with power folding function, engine Start/Stop button paired with Smart Key entry and cruise control.

It also has leather interiors.

All-New Toyota Fortuner Engine and Performance:

The new Fortuner is lighter than the currently sold one and will be powered by a new set of engines that have better performance and even fuel-efficiency. 2.4-liter turbodiesel unit with 150 PS and 400 Nm. 2.7-liter four-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine delivering 122 hp and 245 Nm of torque. These engines are mated to a six-speed manual transmission and a slow a six-speed automatic is available.

All-New Toyota Fortuner Price and Variants:

The Fortuner will be available in three variants in Indonesia and Malaysia – G, SRZ and VRZ. The G and VRZ trim levels will offer Toyota’s new 2.4-liter turbodiesel unit with 150bhp and 400Nm of torque, which also powers the new Innova Crysta. The SRZ trim will be offered with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine delivering 122bhp and 245Nm of torque. The VRZ variant has 4×4 as standard.

The All-New Toyota Fortuner will be competing with the new Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Trailblazer and even the Hyundai Santa Fe.
