Mahindra is on a roll when it comes to new car launches. It has been aggressively updating its SUV lineup to become the best in its segment. It has already updated the Thar and XUV700. Mahindra is also working on the new-generation Scorpio, but its most ambitious product is the XUV900 it had displayed at the Auto Expo 2016 as the “Aero concept”. Currently, the cheapest coupe you can buy in India is the BMW X4 that starts from Rs 67.44 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). So Mahindra bringing this design in a Rs 20 lakh car will be quite interesting. In today’s article, we discuss how you get a BMW X4 like look in a Rs 20 lakh car.

Design

20 lakh BMW X4

The XUV900 will be a unique product in Mahindra’s portfolio. It is expected to get a front design very similar to the XUV700. So we can expect C-shaped LED DRLs with an aggressive grille. The side profile will see major changes with the notchback design. A notchback boot helps maintain the coupe design without compromising on practicality. Also, we expect Mahindra to add stylish alloy wheels and a retractable spoiler to complement the design.

The XUV900 is expected to be based on the same platform as the XUV700. It is also expected to share engine options with the XUV700. So we can expect the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and the 2.2-litre Diesel engines. The XUV700 already comes with best-in-class performance, but Mahindra might re-tune the engine to extract more power for the XUV900. Being a performance-oriented car, it is expected to come with a DCT gearbox. It is also expected to come with a tuned suspension in order to enhance its sporty experience.

Features

20 lakh BMW X4

Mahindra will surely give the XUV900 paddle shifters to complement its sporty nature. The XUV900 will be the flagship product of Mahindra. So Mahindra will load it with a lot of features like it did with the XUV700. It will come with a big infotainment system with AdrenoX support, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, multi-zone climate control, voice recognition and much more. In terms of safety, the XUV900 will surely get an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) like the XUV700. Mahindra might give it ADAS (level 2) to further enhance safety.
