Toyota Hilux unveiled in India – What you must know!
After a long time, Toyota has unveiled a new product in India, the iconic Hilux pickup. The Hilux has been highly anticipated in the Indian market and Toyota has finally launched it here. The Hilux is quite a popular pickup truck in the global market and its entry in India is expected to boost the pickup segment growth. In today’s article, we will see all the details of the newly launched Toyota Hilux.
Variants and pricing
Toyota didn’t reveal the variants and pricing. It has for now opened bookings for the Hilux through Toyota dealership and ToyotaBharat.com. The booking amount through dealership is Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,00 through the Toyota website. Toyota will reveal the pricing in March just before deliveries of the Hilux. It will come through the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route in India and have a different production line in the Bidadi plant. As of now, there are no plans for a petrol-powered Hilux here.
Toyota Hilux India Dimensions and design
The Hilux is a big car when compared to other cars in India. It is 5325mm in length, 1855mm in width and 1865mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 3085 and has a ground clearance of 279mm. It also gets a water wading capacity of 700mm. Coming to the design, the Hilux looks like a typical Toyota SUV. It gets an aggressive grille with a lot of chrome to give that bling factor. The side and rear profile get that urban off-roader look.
Specifications
The Toyota Hilux comes with a 2.8-litre diesel engine, the same engine we see on the Fortuner. The engine is capable of producing 201bhp and 500Nm of torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Hilux also comes with two drive modes- ECO and POWER. The Hilux also comes with a 5-star crash rating from ASEAN NCAP.

Toyota knows features have become an important USP in India. So it has loaded the Hilux with a decent amount of features. It comes with an 8.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, dual-zone climate control, front parking sensors, leather upholstery, six airbags and LED headlamps. The Hilux offers traction control, electronic differential lock, tyre angle monitor to make it a capable off-roader.
