The XUV700 was one of the most hotly anticipated launches of 2021. Mahindra has done a splendid job on the XUV700 by offering segment-first features at a competitive price. Barring the feature list, the XUV700 also comes with powerful petrol and diesel engines. In such big cars, people generally prefer the diesel engine due to more torque and higher mileage. But the petrol engine on the XUV700 is quite a good option for several people. In today’s article, we will see the reasons Mahindra XUV700 petrol makes sense.

Powerful petrol engines

Mahindra XUV700 unveiled

As mentioned above, the XUV700 comes with a powerful petrol engine. It comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine capable of producing 197bhp and 380Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a manual and a torque converter gearbox. Other cars in this segment either don’t come with a petrol engine or come with underpowered petrol engines. So performance is your main criterion the XUV700 petrol will surely not disappoint.

Pricing

Generally, petrol cars are cheaper than their diesel-powered counterparts. The same is the case with the XUV700. For example, the top AX7 luxury pack petrol automatic is priced at Rs 26.49 lakhs. The same variant with a diesel engine is priced at Rs 27.69 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). As you can see, diesel engines generally have a premium of Rs 1 to 1.2 lakhs over petrol engines.

Less usage

It is a known fact that diesel engines need to be driven a lot. If you don’t drive regularly on highways, your diesel particulate filter could get clogged up and this could be expensive to put back. Also, people with less usage should definitely consider the XUV700 petrol.

Refinement

Diesel engines are not as refined as petrol engines. The XUV700 diesel engine is decently refined, but it is no match to a petrol engine. Petrol cars offer a more comfortable experience with less Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) levels.

Maintenance

Diesel engines are quite sturdy and can take abuse. But if there is less usage, it can lead to a costly repair bill. Also, regular maintenance of the diesel engine is more than petrol. If cheap maintenance is your priority, then XUV700 petrol makes sense for you.
