The pickup segment has always been a niche in India. Due to its low popularity, mainstream manufacturers haven’t launched any pickups in India. But Toyota seems to be taking the leap of faith by launching the Hilux in India. The hype for Hilux has been building for some time, but Toyota has been very tight-lipped about its launch. But there seems to be new development regarding its pricing and launch from a leaked FAQ regarding the Hilux. In today’s article, we will discuss more information of the Toyota Hilux 2022.
What is the new information?
A lot of dealers have started taking queries regarding the Hilux. Dealer sources have started revealing some information regarding the Hilux. A FAQ was shared answering a lot of questions regarding the Hilux. For starters, the Hilux will come through the CKD route and will be assembled at Toyota’s plant in Karnataka. It will share several parts with the Fortuner. It will come with a 2.8-litre diesel engine used on the Fortuner. Transmission options will include manual and automatic options.

According to the sources, the launch could take place on 20th January with deliveries starting from March. The booking amount will be Rs 1-lakh and test rides will start after the launch. Toyota will also be offering standard warrant packages of three years/1 lakh kilometres and an extended warranty of 5 years/ 2.2 lakh kilometres. The Hilux will come with five colour options, white (pearl and super), emerald red and metallic versions of grey and silver.
Toyota Hilux 2022 Pricing and rivals
According to the FAQ, the Hilux will be priced on par with the Jeep Compass. The pricing of the Jeep Compass starts from Rs 17.79 lakh and goes to Rs 29.34 lakh (ex-showroom). So we can expect the pricing of the Hilux to be somewhere between 25 to 30 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will rival the Isuzu D-Max, the only pickup truck on sale in India.
