Mahindra xuv300

The XUV300 will be launched by Mahindra soon. We were the first to reveal, two years back that it will get a new power train that will suit Indian conditions. Mahindra has recently launched the Marazzo and the Alturas G4. They also had soft launches of the Scorpio S9 and the TUV300 Plus. Some of the new things we already know about the XUV300 are that steering wheel is the same as the KUV100, the center console gets a large touchscreen system, which is probably an 8-inch one. The knobs and buttons are placed below the screen. The interiors are different from the Ssangyong Tivoli. There is a compartment above the touchscreen, on the dashboard like the XUV500. It has a flip-opening lid as well. The ORVMs have turn indicators on them.

The company has been working on this SUV which will be introduced later this year, under the XUV brand. On December 1st we will be able to confirm if this car will be called the Mahindra XUV300. The codename for this SUV is S201. This upcoming SUV has been spotted several times during tests. There will some cosmetic changes as well to this new SUV, over the Ssangyong Tivoli. Though the base is the same, it will get some additional features that will make it attractive in the segment. Mahindra will take on the sub-four meter compact SUV segment with this new car. The latest with this car is that the spy shots of the front interior have been revealed. To see the interior of the XUV300, scroll below.

Mahindra U321 third row spied

The rear seats of the Mahindra U321 has been spied for the first time. The pictures depict that the second row has just adequate space. The rear AC vents are mounted on the roof. There is no centre armrest. The floor console gets storage spaces like cup holders and space for keeping mobile phones. The third row is a bit cramped in terms of knee room. It is best suited for children. Two adults can squeeze in, though. The second and third row, both get 60:40 split seats, to make it more convenient and flexible for stowing luggage.

This new MPV will be launched in the market soon. It is expected to come by August. This is an all new product for which the company has just invested close to INR 1500 crores. Codenamed U321, this new MPV will be manufactured in Nasik. This is a replacement for the Xylo, but a more premium one. The U321 is based on a new platform. This is different from the Xylo. The Mahindra U321 is a seven-seater MPV. This will not compete with the Toyota Innova Crysta or the Tata Hexa. It will create a sub-segment of its own, which will be higher than the Ertiga and lower than the Innova.

The Xylo will not be able to meet the crash test norms, hence, Mahindra will be discontinuing it. The TUV300 Plus. will also be launched and this will be an SUV, which will also replace the Xylo. This will be based on the TUV platform and will be longer. It is likely to be a 9-seater SUV and it will be made for commercial and rural purposes majorly. The company is also working on this new MUV also, which will go head on against the Innova Crysta. Mahindra is also working on the S201, which will be the compact SUV on the Ssangyong Tivoli platform.

Mahindra XUV500 W9 variant launched at ₹15.4 lakhs (ex-showroom)

Published

on

2017 Mahindra XUV500

The facelift version of the XUV500 is expected around next year. The Indian UV maker is looking at introducing this to enhance its numbers. New products like the Tata Hexa, Toyota Innova Crysta and Jeep Compass have negatively affected the sales of the Mahindra flagship SUV. Mahindra has taken note of this and before the facelift comes into the market, they have introduced a new variant – W9.

The W9 variant is priced at ₹ 15.4 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is positioned between the W8 and W10 variants. The W9 variants draws in a few features from the W10 variant. Thus, Mahindra is offering a more feature loaded variant at an affordable price point.

Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “Since its launch in 2011, the XUV500 has been a pioneer in providing innovative hi-tech features that are not available even in vehicles that are almost double its price. We are certain that the introduction of these hi-end features at such a competitive price point will generate a lot of interest amongst prospects who are evaluating SUVs in the price range of ₹ 14 lakhs to ₹ 18 lakhs . By introducing these aspirational features at this price, XUV500 has raised the bar once again.”

Mahindra KUV100 2018

Mahindra KUV100 started a new segment when launched. This new segment is the micro SUV segment. The Mahindra KUV100 did not see the kind of success that Mahindra had envisaged. Though the KUV100 looked like a promising vehicle, some aspects of this micro SUV seems to have not caught the fancy of customers. Mahindra hence is planning to launch a new version of the KUV100, which essentially will be a facelift. Let’s see what the 2018 Mahindra KUV100 will offer.

Mahindra has just introduced some tech features on the XUV500 and as par a company quote some of these will even trickle down into the KUV100 as well. The new KUV100 will have some new features and at the same time it get minor cosmetic changes too. The KUV100’s design and interior quality have been one of its not so strong points and Mahindra will want to revive it. There will be added features too as the Grand i10 and the Ignis, which are of the same price offer a lot more than what the KUV100 gets. This will help Mahindra to hold a good market share. This new SUV was adding on to the numbers of the company and this could be the next big product if altered well with more features and better quality.

Mahindra Centuro Review

Mahindra Centuro 1

While people waited for the Mahindra Mojo, Mahindra decided to trick people with the Mahindra Centuro in 2013. This was Mahindra’s reply to the commuter segment. A 110 cc bike for daily commute and efficiency. What they had in mind, no one had a clue. But Mahindra decided to go feature loaded. One of the first Mahindra Centuro ads where there were two women running with a man’s shirt and he has a bike with remote locking which he used to get the shirt back. Never got the point of the ad but the remote key feature seems good. Like something you would find in cars. It has been four years now and the Centuro has gone through some changes. Let’s have a look what is in store.  (more…)

Now in sept 2016, they added some more Gust to the scooter by launching the 125 cc variant. In 2017 some new graphics and BS-IV engine have been added to the Mahindra Gusto 125.

Mahindra KUV100 Design

The Mahindra KUV100 gets an all new styling, something never seen before. It has a sleek front grille with slim, elongated headlamps. LEDs are integrated in the headlamps. The fog lamps are rectangular in shape to give it a beefy look. The KUV100 has stylish front end and the design continues to the side as well. There are thick lines running across the side profile. The door handle for the rear door is located next to the window. The sporty rear end makes it quite appealing as well. The Mahindra KUV100 has wrap around tail lamps and the shallow glass area at the rear makes it look trendy.

Mahindra KUV100 Interiors

Mahindra KUV100 1

The Mahindra KUV100 has all new interiors. Yes, it is stylish and something we don’t see often. Nothing is shared with any other Mahindra vehicle. There is a five seater version and even has a six seater version. The six seater is a 3+3 seating. The dashboard is grey and it looks stylish. The twin dial instrument cluster has red dials. The steering wheel 0n the Mahindra KUV100 is all new. This is a small size wheel that is easy to use. The gear stick is mounted on the centre console and is very easy to use. In terms of quality, the finish is a bit raw and doesn’t feel premium. However, it has a pleasing feel.

The front row seats have good enough space. In the 3+3 seater, the middle seat also doubles as a centre armrest. The second row doesn’t get an arm rest. The boot is quite small and its difficult to pack in a reasonable amount of luggage. The Mahindra KUV100 is best suited for the city.

There is sufficient space in the seat pockets to keep documents. The rear door pocket can hold one litre of of bottle each as well. The KUV100’s 243 litres of boot space is adequate and there are also tumble down folding rear seats that increases the boot space even further.

Mahindra KUV100 Performance

Mahindra KUV10014

Despite a 1.2-litre engine, the Mahindra KUV100 petrol and diesel are not short on performance. This vehicle has been designed for Indian roads and certainly does the job well. There is more than sufficient power on this SUV to drive in the city or even on the highway. If you want to improve your mileage, then get into the Eco mode. There is a reduction in performance, but a major bump in the mileage. The petrol engine of the Mahindra KUV100 has a lot of vibrations, when you are at idle (not moving with engine on). The engine performance vis-a-vis size of the engine and the vehicle is very good. There is a frequent need to shift gears. The Mahindra KUV100 even gets the micro-hybrid, the start-stop technology and the diesel variant even has something like a multi-drive mode. There is a power mode and an Eco mode as well.

Mahindra KUV1009

The gear lever is mounted on the dashboard, and the shifts are short. The Mahindra KUV100 gear lever doesn’t feel rubbery at all. Driving in city is a breeze, however the clutch position is a bit odd. The clutch is heavy too on the diesel, which makes driving in city traffic a bit cumbersome.

Mahindra KUV100 Ride and Handling

The Mahindra KUV100 has good ride on smooth roads. Even at high speeds, the ride doesn’t feel unsettled. However on bumpy roads, the KUV100 feels a bit jittery. There is a feeling of disconnect when going on a bump. The handling too is decent of the Mahindra KUV100. There isn’t a lot of body roll, unless you chuck the steering wheel aggressively. When you drive around bends, the steering wheel doesn’t feel lively and this is discouraging. The other downside of the steering feel. At low speeds it is heavy, which means more efforts to park and it is extremely light at high speeds. Again losing confidence.
